The CompTIA A+ certification is the most globally recognised qualification for establishing IT support careers. This CompTIA A+ course is perfect for technical support learners looking to build a successful career in IT, this vendor neutral industry-leading certification also acts as a gateway to further career prospects and more specialised areas of IT. Once your exams are completed, you could follow several CompTIA pathways into careers like networking, IT infrastructure and cybersecurity.
The CompTIA A+ compiles two required exams to earn the certification: Core 1 (Exam 220-1001) and Core 2 (Exam 220-1002). The Core 1 online training course covers exam topics such as, mobile devices, networking technology, hardware, virtualisation, and cloud computing. The Core 2 training course covers exam topics such as, working with operating systems, security, software troubleshooting and operational procedures.
We recommend that technical support learners who are considering the CompTIA certification exams to also consider taking both the CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ course to strengthen their network troubleshooting skills. As an entry-level IT support professional, you could be expected to troubleshoot, configure, and manage basic networking for organisations. If you research the IT Support Engineer skill set on itjobswatch.co.uk (A job board analysis website), you’ll notice a common skill category for the job title is “communications and networking”.
If you’d like to work in the IT sector, regardless of knowing where exactly you want to land up, the CompTIA A+ course is an excellent choice. The course is built for people who’d like to work in the support side of IT, with a more technical approach to IT careers. However, this is one of the most popular career starting points for many IT professionals, who develop from here into many other specialised roles, such as networking or cybersecurity.
According to CompTIA, the demand for IT support roles, which require A+ skills, will grow by 21% over the next decade. Forecasted, this continued demand will mean a further 789,000 jobs will need to be filled by 2033. CompTIA A+ is the widely recognised and trusted credential for technical support professionals, as it has been proven to demonstrate ability of the skills and knowledge required to provide critical end-user support. A+ is the most required credential for technical support specialist jobs with companies like HP, Dell, Intel, Nissan and has been the leading choice for many years.

Yes. The CompTIA website does say you need between 9 and 12 months hand-on-experience before starting. However, if you have a basic understanding of IT, then it shouldn't be a problem for you. You could start with the CompTIA IT Fundamentals if you feel like you need to start at the very beginning of IT.
Yes. All CompTIA certifications are internationally recognised, so you could use these credentials anywhere in the world. These credentials are also well established, meaning hiring managers and organisations should already be well aware of the accrediting body.
Yes. If you visit the CompTIA website, you will see under retirement that they usually retire the certification version after three years of launch. This is really done because technology changes quickly, and they need to make sure your knowledge and skills stay relevant.
