AZ-500 — Microsoft Azure Security Engineer

AZ-500 leads to Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate — Microsoft's role-based certification for professionals securing Azure. It proves you can manage identity and access, secure networking, protect compute, storage and databases, and run security operations. The certification is earned by passing the single AZ-500: Microsoft Azure Security Technologies exam.

Most learners complete AZ-500 in around 6 to 10 weeks alongside other commitments. There's no time limit: you have 12 months' access, so you can study at whatever pace suits you.

There are no formal prerequisites for AZ-500, so you can enrol whatever your starting point. That said, Microsoft recommends Azure administration experience — the equivalent of the AZ-104 Azure Administrator certification — along with familiarity with networking, scripting and automation, to get the most from the course.
