What to Expect on Exam Day

The CompTIA Tech+ exam is booked and sat through Pearson VUE. You can take it online with a remote proctor, or at a local test centre — whenever you’re ready.

When you add the exam and feel ready, your account manager helps you redeem your voucher and book through Pearson VUE — online or at a test centre near you.

Equipment required

For online testing you need a laptop or desktop (not a mobile or tablet), a working webcam and microphone, a quiet private room, and a stable internet connection.

On the day

You have 75 minutes and up to 75 multiple-choice questions covering the full breadth of the FC0-U71 syllabus — from core IT concepts through to security and AI.

Results

You get your score on a 100–900 scale as soon as you finish, with a report showing how you did in each area. Score 650 or above and you’re CompTIA Tech+ certified.

Rescheduling

If something comes up, you can reschedule through Pearson VUE up to 24 hours before your exam. Your account manager can help if you’re not sure how.

What is CompTIA IT Fundamentals+?

The CompTIA IT Fundamentals training course is for anyone wanting to start a career in IT, and needs to cover the absolute basics before moving to further training. The course will cover computing basics, installing devices, basic networking, troubleshooting, and other basic topics.

Is ITF+ harder than A+?

No. The ITF+ is very starting point for IT careers, and would be the initial career step before taking the more advanced A+ training. The A+ is designed for IT support professionals, whereas the ITF+ is for general IT beginners.

How many questions are on the IT fundamentals exam?

The IT Fundamentals exam contains 75 multiple choice questions which can be completed in 60 minutes. We always advise taking the full 60 minutes to complete your questions.

How many hours is CompTIA IT Fundamentals?

The ITF+ exam is 1 hour, which is completed online.

Does CompTIA IT Fundamentals expire?

The IT Fundamentals certification does get refreshed 3 years after the last launch date. This is done to keep the training content current, making sure learners aware of the latest technology and trends.
