What is a change & improvement specialist?
A change and improvement specialist helps organisations adopt new ways of working and run more efficiently — making sure changes actually stick, and that processes deliver more value with less waste.
The work spans two complementary disciplines. Change management focuses on the people side: preparing, supporting and embedding change so it lands. Process improvement (often Lean Six Sigma) focuses on the work itself: removing waste, reducing variation and improving quality.
It is a high-impact, well-paid career found across every sector, and demand is strong as organisations continually restructure, digitise and look for efficiency. It also leads naturally into transformation leadership.
Many people move into change and improvement from project management, operations, or subject-matter roles. You do not need a degree — you need a recognised certification, strong people skills, and a structured, evidence-led approach.
